Sanje Lanka bags "SILVER" at NBQSA 2008 for e-Government Services Category

Sanje Lanka wins a “ SILVER” at the prestigious National Best Quality Software Awards 2008, in “e- Government and Citizen services” category. The Software e-FDS (Formless Document Systems) is a AJAX enabled enterprise content management solution with built in workflow and records management functions. The application has been developed based on Microsoft .NET platform and carries major practical inventions / enhancements and features to support low bandwidth internet environment. Citizen services in the developing world has major challenges in terms of available internet bandwidth, processing power ,localization etc where the e-FDS application is addressing most of these issues. This fully web integrated, browser accessible application can further be integrated with Microsoft SharePoint Portal server as well.

Sanje Lanka was selected in 2006 to implement the Birth, Marriage and Death Certification issuing solution for part of Colombo District which was later enhanced to implement in all 13 DS offices in the Colombo district. The project was addressed to solve the issue of delayed processing requests for citizen service of issuing the certified copies of the vital records. Vital records for citizens are important at many stages in their life and play major role in obtaining further services such as obtaining passport , getting an admission of a child to a school to many others. Before implementing the solution the average time for obtaining a certificate was anywhere between few days to few weeks, not to mention the corruption that associated due to nature of the need.

Today citizens in Colombo district can get a copy of their vital record in matter few hours at worst case scenarios to minutes in normal cases, based on the load of the work at the centre and the physical approval process. People have applaud the implementation of the service and now this service is available through all 13 DS offices in the Colombo district. The next level of implementation of the project is on the way for centralized retrieval for issuance of the certificates which will enable any of the DS offices to issue a certificate from any other office. Based on the success of this project, the government also has taken the initiative in taking the service country wide. The Project was champi

oned by Mr. G.A.J Sylvester Colombo District Secretary and was supported by ICTA, Plan International, Sri Lankan Government and Registrar General Office.

Sanje Lanka being a winner at the NBQSA awards has been selected also to represent Sri Lanka at the APICTA 2008 which will happen in Jakarta. APICTA ( Asia Pacific Information Communication Technology Association) showcase the regional countries in the event.

Sanje Lanka is 8 year old organization which has started as a garage business with 2 people today employees more than 100 people and has sold solutions not only in Sri Lanka but as well in the region. Recently Sanje Lanka won a contract with a consortium for providing a complete conversion and implementation of a electronic document management solution at Brunei National Museum. Undoubtedly Sanje Lanka is the largest document management services provider in Sri Lanka.
